Jeff Bridges was fascinated by his wife’s beauty despite the fact that he had suffered facial injuries when they met

Although Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges has admitted that he is not “really good” at romance, he and his wife, Susan Geston, have been married for more than four decades.

Born in December 1949, Jeff Bridges is a multi-award winning actor. He is best known for appearing in ‘The Big Lebowski’ and ‘Hell or High Water’. He may not be “particularly good” at romance, but his relationship with Susan Geston is unique.

Bridges revealed that it was not his style to give clothes to his wife. He knows she deserves much more, but he rubs her back at night and takes her picture with him wherever he goes. “It’s pretty romantic, isn’t it?” he said. In truth, their love story is very romantic.

JEFF BRIDGES ‘FIRST DATE WITH HIS HALF

Most relationships in Hollywood are pretty similar: Two actors work together on a project, fall in love and get married. However, the case of Bridges and Geston was different.

They met in 1975 while filming “Rancho Deluxe” in Paradise Valley, a small town in Montana. Susan Geston was not an actress, but a waitress at a hotel called Chico Hot Springs. As soon as Bridges saw her, he fell in love with her.

The actor admitted that it was love at first sight. Susan Geston was undoubtedly beautiful, but she also had black eyes and a broken nose. Later, Jeff learned that these scars were the result of a car accident. Bridges admitted:

“Something about her beauty and her disfigurement fascinated me. Every time I looked, she grabbed me.”

Jeff waited for Susan to finish her shift and he asked her out, but she declined his offer. He tried to convince her, but without success.

She ends up telling him that it’s a small town and that they could probably bump into each other another time. One night they met by chance. After dancing with her, Bridges really fell in love.

Their first official date was anything but ordinary. Jeff had an appointment with a real estate agent the day after his date with Susan, so he asked her to come with him.

As he walked around the ranch, he constantly thought he was looking at the house with his future wife. “Oh, no, let me get out of here,” Jeff thought, mostly because he was afraid of getting married.

“The marriage actually closed a door, but opened up many opportunities.”

JEFF BRIDGE’S FEAR OF MARRIAGE AND THE LESSONS HE LEARNED.

Although Bridges admitted that he was wildly in love with Susan, he felt in a corner. He did not want to let the love of his life slip through his fingers, but he was also afraid to admit that she was “the one”.

Her famous parents (“Seinfeld” actress Lloyd Bridges and actress and poet Dorothy Bridges) were partly responsible. The ‘Iron Man’ star admitted that he came from “such amazing parents” that he was not sure he and Susan had what it took.

Besides, Jeff did not want to lose his freedom, so they dated for two years before he got the courage to propose to her. However, the thought of getting divorced if things did not work out was in the back of my mind.

Jeff and Susan married in 1977 and they never divorced. The actor acknowledged that the marriage closed a door, but opened up many possibilities, including:

“Children, grandchildren, deeper intimacy with your wife and so many other things that would not be available to you without marriage.”

If getting married scared him, Jeff finally felt like he had opened his heart deeply. The movie star has also learned a lot from her significant other, especially because she points out the ways he “falls apart”.

Susan taught him to value difficult situations differently and not to worry too much about new projects he embarks on. Jeff acknowledged that their relationship was the most valuable thing to them.

INSIDE THE COUPLE’S ‘OLD WAR’ AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP

Although Jeff and Susan have been married for 45 years, their love still faces some challenges. The actor admitted that they also had an “old war”:

“You just do not understand me, you do not know me, you do not understand.”

The actor said he does not quite know his wife and never will. The same goes for Susan, she will never fully know her husband. But they realize with every thrill that this mutual lack of knowledge is what they have in common.

“The fact that doctors have a favorable prognosis makes it less bleak.”

After being in a relationship for so long, Jeff Bridges and Susan Geston realized that it was impossible to avoid conflict. Fortunately, they take comfort in knowing that they will get through them together and end up loving each other even more.

The couple was asked what the secret was to getting a marriage to hold in showbiz, and Bridges replied that it was not about to get divorced. He added that the important challenges of marriage are opportunities to get to know each other, to become more intimate and to find out what the other person cannot tolerate.

DISCOVER THE COUPLE’S THREE CHILDREN

Today, Geston and Bridges have three daughters, Isabelle, Jessica and Haley. Over the years, the latter have often appeared on the red carpet with their parents, and Jeff said he is grateful to have such a family.

When he was diagnosed with lymphoma in October 2020, his three daughters and wife supported him a lot. Their love lifted her mood, and the fact that the doctors had a favorable prognosis made things less bleak.

The daughters of Jeff Bridges also have successful careers. Born in August 1981, Isabelle briefly embarked on an acting career, 19 years old, when she accepted a role in the 1989 film “Termini Station”. It was her first and only role.

Today, Isabelle is a mother coach focusing on leading parenting circles online and in the San Francisco Bay Area. She married Brandon Boesch in 2007 and she has two children.

Jessica was born in June 1983. Instead of pursuing an acting career as her father, she became a singer-songwriter. We do not know if she’s still making music. The last time she posted on Instagram was in February 2020.

The youngest daughter in the family, Haley, was born in October 1985. She is a famous interior designer in Santa Barbara, California, and married Justin Shane in September 2021. What a beautiful family!
