Launch of the 12th edition of the Orange Award for Social Entrepreneurs in Africa and the Middle East (POESAM)

Registration for the 12th edition of the Orange Social Venture Prize in Africa and the Middle East begins on March 28. Until May 27, candidates will be able to submit their application on the page https://poesam.orange.com.

POESAM was launched in 2011 and during its 11 editions has awarded approximately € 555,000 to projects by African entrepreneurs with social and environmental consequences in various sectors: health, education, e-commerce or agriculture.

The competition takes place in two stages:

  • A national phase for collecting applications, which takes place between March and the end of May in the 17 Orange subsidiaries. At the end of this collection, a jury of representatives of the Orange startup ecosystem will meet in each subsidiary to nominate 3 national winners (per subsidiary) who will enter the international phase;
  • An international phase where the projects of the 3 winners from each subsidiary will be evaluated by a committee consisting of the group’s employees. Once their evaluations are completed, 10 finalists will be selected. A final jury, composed of influential personalities in technology in Africa, will be responsible for nominating the 3 winners of the POESAM International Grand Prix in October. They will be rewarded with:
  • € 25,000 for 1uh award recipient;
    • € 15,000 for the 2th award recipient;
    • € 10,000 for 3th winner.

Equality between women and men is an integral part of Orange’s policy, the International Women’s Prize will be awarded to the 3.th years in a row. Supported by the Orange Group’s diversity and inclusion worth € 20,000, this award will reward either a project led by a woman or a project that proposes a technological solution to improve women’s living conditions (empowerment of women, creation or job retention, gender data collection , digital inclusion and financial inclusion …).
